Two of these new motors and newly developed algorithms ensure unprecedented speed and precision in driving the lens' large focussing unit.

During design and manufacture, the lens is carefully checked for spherical aberrations to ensure the highest possible quality of bokeh. As powerful 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters available as accessories are supported, outstanding resolution and high contrast can be achieved even at 800 mm focal length

The world's lightest lens in its class (2,895 g)

Due to the innovative optical design with three Flourit lens elements, the number of elements located at the front of the lens cylinder is reduced. Overall, this results in a very low weight of just 2,895 g. The robust magnesium alloy components also contribute to the weight reduction.

Stability and reliability for difficult conditions

Its dust- and splash-proof construction gives this lens the reliability that is particularly required for shooting in harsh outdoor environments. The robust magnesium alloy used for the inner and outer components of the lens barrel and the tripod mount give the lens enormous stability despite its low weight.

Functions for professional shots

With the full-time DMF, manual focus can be activated even when shooting in AF-C mode by turning the focus ring. Optical image stabilisation is integrated and a new setting in mode 3 features a smarter algorithm that ensures optimal stabilisation in dynamic sports scenes while making positioning easier.
