Description

With an angle of view of 110 °, the super wide-angle lens is the ideal companion when it comes to capturing events in a vivid and extraordinary way. Whether salt crystals or drops of water, the front lens can be optimally protected in wind and weather thanks to the integrated lens hood and standard filter thread.

Technically, the Distagon T* 2.8/15 impresses with exceptional chromatic aberration correction and prevents colour fringing caused by chromatic aberration almost without exception. Two aspherical lenses, special glass with anomalous partial dispersion and the floating element design guarantee high imaging performance from close-up to infinity. There are no limits to the imagination.

The Distagon T* 2.8/15 can be modified to a version without a lens hood by ZEISS Service.

When image angles reach extreme sizes in SLR systems, the distance between the rear lens and the image plane must be significantly greater than the focal length of the original application range of the Distagon type. This elaborate retrofocus construction can also be used excellently with modern highly corrected lenses with longer focal lengths.

The ZEISS Classic lenses Tradition obliges

The ZEISS Classic lenses have been highly recognised by photographers around the world for many years, and rightly so. The solid full metal mount ensures consistent functionality and imaging performance, no matter how many subjects have been captured. Manual focusing encourages creativity when customising the image result.

Aspherical design

The aspherical lens design ensures consistent imaging performance across the entire focal range and sharpness at the periphery of the image. The more complex surface profile of the asphere can reduce or even prevent spherical aberration and reduce further optical aberrations compared to a simple lens.

Floating elements design

Modern camera technologies and high-resolution digital image sensors demand ever greater performance from lenses. The modern floating elements design compensates for aberrations in ZEISS lenses at different distance settings. This is achieved by changing the axial distance between individual lenses or lens groups. The adjustment of the lens distance is linked to the distance setting so that the correct correction is always achieved. The mechanical structure of these lenses is very complex and the processing must be particularly precise - both of which are ZEISS' specialities.

Excellent resolution and high contrast

Rich, vivid colours are a must to create a lasting impression. However, stray light in the lens leads to a brightening of the image, which is particularly noticeable in the shadow areas. The image contrast decreases and the image appears low-contrast and faded. ZEISS therefore combines various specially developed techniques to reduce unwanted stray light.

Almost distortion-free optics

Dramatic perspectives and the view from unusual angles ZEISS lenses open up new creative possibilities. Distortion would disrupt the composition, as straight lines whose image does not pass through the centre of the image would appear curved. This disruptive effect is largely compensated for by sophisticated optical designs for all focal lengths.

Uniform imaging performance across the entire image field

ZEISS lenses are famous for their exceptional image results. Even with challenging subjects, perspectives, colour moods and lighting situations are optimally reproduced across the entire full-frame image field. For this reason, we attach great importance to particularly high imaging performance, such as low distortion and excellent stray light reduction for rich colours.
